Founded in Shanghai in 2021, bias is an independent design brand of lamp and furniture, with team members from diverse educational backgrounds, such as art, architecture, industrial design, electrics and electronics, and mechanical design. Backed by an R&D studio, it is present-oriented, and focuses on designing and producing products rich in aesthetic value.The core of bias is to create soft space-time with light. If architecture is frozen music, we want to make it flow again. Bias means deviation, which refers to the gap value by which an estimate is different from the reality in statistics, expressing a way of changing arising from deviations.In design, bias creatively introduces time as a new medium into lamp design via programming and optoelectronic technology. It breaks through barriers of time dimension in design, and bring in flowing time within space. It also facilitates interactions between light, time, and space to provide a more subtle perception of the venue.
