The world is in a state of ever-increasing homogeneity. With new methods of communicating and sharing, global trends, styles and technologies have proliferated a ‘sameness’ through our cities. Our cities should be places of wonder, joy, distinctiveness and beauty. Craig Miller will explore Heatherwick Studio’s approach to distinctive design through built and unbuilt projects; from a timber cancer-care centre in England, a nature-embedded mixed-use development in Shanghai, and a new approach to an urban street in Tokyo.
