This year’s Design Shanghai visual identity centres on the importance of nature within the future of design - not only how design must continue to protect the natural world and treat it as an equal partner, but also how being surrounded and immersed in nature improves our wellbeing and our connection with the real world.
The silver metal surface of the iconic dragon embodies a technology and innovation-driven future, the vibrant green moss that grows within the dragon serves as an analogy for design’s constant drive for evolution and the possibilities of developing new ideas and approaches to responding to the current and future design challenges - we must follow nature’s lead in establishing an equilibrium with our surroundings.
With the show returning in spring, this KV stands as a statement: the future of design is not only about pushing forward, but also about reconnecting — with nature, with people, with culture, and with the renewing energy that nature brings each year.
