Light Bites: A Sensory Dinner Experience

From 4 to 7 June, during Design Shanghai 2025, four exclusive sensory dinners marked the China debut of Light Bites — a renowned cross-disciplinary art project by Italian design studio Habits Design.

Zhuo Tan, Director of Design Shanghai, mentioned that she has long admired Habits Design for their innovative work in sensory and interactive design. She shared that bringing Light Bites to China was her way of introducing this unique experience to the Asian design community — creating a powerful moment of cross-cultural dialogue through design.

Hosted by Design Shanghai in collaboration with Habits Design and Head Chef Sandro Zheng of SEN Restaurant, the dinners took place at The Gallery, Gaggenau’s flagship space in Shanghai. The refined setting and culinary creativity echoed the themes of light and sensory transformation.

With guests from MAD, X Museum, Huawei Aesthetics Institute, YIT, Samsung Display and others, Light Bites became more than a meal. It was a shared exploration of creativity, perception, and the future of living.
