Design in the City 2026 | Huangpu District Hotspots, Events & Studio Open Day Revealed

From 5–22 March 2026, Design in the City extends Design Shanghai beyond the fairground and into Shanghai’s urban fabric. Huangpu District Hotspots Highlights

Across Huangpu District, a curated selection of hotspots traces the dialogue between heritage and modernity: independent couture label kexin de kexin; multidisciplinary concept space CAIRAROOM; London-founded jewellery platform VOIR LAB; refined lifestyle brand SHANG XIA; historic cultural landmark BAIXIN BOOKS; contemporary tea brand BASAO; fragrance house Nuwilds; sustainable design studio Penapalne; textile-led cultural space Boulang; luxury riverside retreat Bellagio Shanghai; urban sanctuary The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi; and boutique residence Ôpartment at the Far Eastern Hotel — each offering a distinct spatial expression of design embedded in the city’s daily rhythm.

 

Studio Open Day

Leading practices open their working environments to the public: UNS presents exhibitions, salon talks and a landmark site visit exploring technology-driven, human-centred design; NOTHING DESIGN reveals its curatorial approach to contemporary minimalism; and JYQ shares its methodology of integrating spatial strategy with long-term commercial value.
