Design in the City 2026 | Changning District Hotspots, Events & Studio Open Day Revealed

From 5–22 March 2026, Design in the City activates Shanghai through a network of design destinations woven into the urban fabric, where dining, fragrance and fashion are reimagined as part of everyday life—revealing the city’s creative vitality. In Changning District, under the theme Design for Tomorrow, designer Xin Tao joins as City Explorer, curating selected hotspots and articulating a design ecology in which heritage and contemporary space exist in dynamic coexistence. Changning District Hotspots Highlights

From coffee to cuisine and contemporary dress, Changning’s selected destinations explore how design permeates daily life.

In Coffee and Drink Encounters, coffeaSHED, P COFFEE, Qishan Tea House, CUBIC3 and TWELVE NAUTICAL MILES CAFE AND TAP ROOM, transform retail into open social landscapes, where coffee, tea and clothing intersect and sensory experiences unfold through movement and pause. Narratives in Dining brings together Barque, Den-Q, NOW and Tǎng using flavour as a spatial language to shape intimate, story-led environments where gathering becomes an exchange of emotion and ideas. Through Woven Futures, naze naze, DONGLIANG, and YE SHAN H foreground textile and craftsmanship, merging tradition with modernity and rural rhythms with urban life—extending design beyond form into culture, tactility and sustainable connection. Harvestyle, PAPER.D and Shanye Art Gallery unfolds through gifts, paper and art. 

Studio Open Day

Founded in 2002, Maxk Design Integration is a Shanghai-based interior design studio with an international collaborative network. During the Open Day, guided tours and talks will offer an inside view into selected commercial and residential projects, revealing the studio’s design methodology and spatial philosophy.
