Yumian graduated with a full scholarship from Duke University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Visual Arts. After working at Microsoft headquarters, he was recruited back to Shenzhen by DJI’s founder, where he led the definition and design of the Mavic Pro and Mavic Air drones. These groundbreaking innovations revolutionized the drone industry and were recognized by TIME magazine as one of the 25 Best Inventions of 2016.

In 2018, driven by a passion to explore design and innovation across broader fields, Yumian left DJI to establish LeapX Design Studio. After years of growth and development, LeapX has become one of the industry’s leading R&D-driven design studios.
