Guan Yiqun is one of the leading architect and researcher in the field of senior housing and healthcare design in China. From the perspective of architectural sociology, he explores the relationship between space and social interaction, proposing design concepts such as "micro village", "informality", "soft boundaries" and "strong connections". His works are widely acclaimed across China, earning prestigious design awards such as WAN, WAF, and The PLAN. Guan is also a passionate advocate for the concept of "Design for All" , was invited to give speeches and publish articles in professional and public media. He has also participated in drafting several national design standards. As a graduate of the Technische Universität Berlin, Guan is a charter member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and a committee member of China association of gerontology and geriatrics (CAGG). He was a former partner of Assmann Salomon Architekture und Staedtbau. Since 2009 he is working as a partner and design director of GN Architects.
