Tsubasa Shindo
Tsubasa Shindo is a Tokyo-based architect and senior designer at nendo. With academic roots in both Japan and Germany and a childhood spent partly in Los Angeles, his approach blends cultural sensitivity with a deep interest in how people experience space.
He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture from Waseda University, where he specialized in architectural design, and studied architectural theory at Technische Universität Berlin as an exchange student. The city’s layered urban memory and experimental design culture left a lasting impression.
At nendo, he has worked on projects ranging from residences and commercial architecture to immersive exhibitions. He served as Architectural and Exhibition Director for the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2025, and contributed to exhibitions like Escher x nendo.
His process begins with human experience, shaping space through narrative, material, and form. Outside of work, he finds inspiration in caring for plants—and keeping up with the lively presence of his cat.
