Sun Dayong is a chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), a member of the Architectural Society of China（Member of ASC）, an expert of the China Building Decoration Association（CBDA），a member of the Display Art Professional Committee of the China Interior Decoration Association, and a visiting professor at Jilin Jianzhu University. He has been invited as a special guest speaker at the annual meeting of the Interior Design Branch of the Chinese Architectural Society, a KODW speaker and masterclass instructor at the Hong Kong DFA Design Center. He has been named Robb Report’s Best of the Best (BOB) Designer of the Year for consecutive years ，and served as a jury member for leading international awards such as the Dezeen Awards. He is a leading architect who combines global influence with academic insight. He founded Penda China, an internationally influential multidisciplinary architecture firm that was honored with the Architizer A+Award for Emerging International Firm of the Year. The practice’s works have received numerous domestic and international honors including the Italian A' Design Award, World Design Awards (Architecture), German Iconic Architecture Award, and Dezeen Awards. He has been deeply involved in the field of art space design for over 20 years, covering urban public art spaces, art museums, art centers, private art spaces, and art installations. Representative works such as Bauhaus Museum, Hive Center for Contemporary Art, Hongkun Museum of Fine Arts, Xu Lei Studio, JUN Foundation, Yang Bin's private collection space, AYE Hong Kong Space, Xu Lei's large-scale solo exhibition, Ji Xin’s solo exhibition at the Long Museum, 《Dream》land-art installation, etc. Hive Center for Contemporary Art is known by industry experts as the "most professional art exhibition space in China" and has become a model for the integration of contemporary art and architectural space. His studio’s works have been widely invited to leading exhibitions at home and abroad, including the first CHINA HOUSE VISION Future Home Exhibition curated by Kenyahara, the “Walking Box” exhibition at Salone del Mobile in Milan, Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shenzhen–Hong Kong), Upstreaming: Young Architect: from CAFA, and Guangzhou Design Week. After cross-border cooperation with BMW MINI and Mercedes Benz, Sun Dayong co created the spatial installation work "Under the Branches, Co-living with Trees" with actor Liu Zi, which became the iconic visual landscape of Guangzhou Design Week and was well received by audiences and attracted media attention. Sun Dayong's architectural design practice is rooted in his research on "biomimetic creation" and his unique insights into artistic aesthetics. He advocates the design philosophy “Less is Love,” proposing that architecture is not merely the construction of space, but a warm and enduring form of “companionship”. He regards architecture as the "container of light and shadow" and the "field of life". Designers should endow architecture with "vitality of growth", break the traditional "white box" coldness, and give space organic vitality. He is skilled at transforming architectural space into an immersive sensory journey through spatial scale expansion and material narration. Based on the philosophy of life, he establishes a profound emotional resonance and aesthetic bond among art, environment, and individual life.
