Studio M.Noir originated from a paper workshop during our residency in the Qiandongnan Miao Village of Guizhou Province between 2013 and 2015. Later relocated to the Xinchang Ancient Town in Shanghai's Pudong District, the studio moved back to our hometown of Shaxian County, Fujian Province, in early 2023. Our primary focus lies in contemporary paper art creations rooted in traditional handmade papermaking techniques, alongside experimental research, applied development, and design innovations with paper materials. We also engage in small-scale customized production and host intimate paper art workshops and thematic seminars. Through these endeavors, we aim to explore the untapped potential of handmade paper in contemporary artistic practice, striving to redefine paper's essence and let it simply be—"paper."
