PUSU, an oriental art furniture brand founded in Shanghai in 2011, derives its name from Zhuangzi · : "Simplicity, the unique beauty with which nothing could compete."
PUSU’s design regards classical oriental aesthetics as an inexhaustible source of inspiration, drawing creative ideas and spiritual essence from the classic crafts of the Song and Ming dynasties. It selects high-grade hardwoods as raw materials, inherits traditional Chinese craftsmanship such as mortise and tenon joinery and handcrafted lacquering, and reinterprets these traditions with a contemporary and avant-garde design language. This innovative approach is applied across all its designs, giving rise to original product lines including classic hardwood furniture and art furniture with handcrafted lacquer finish, presenting an inclusive living scene of contemporary oriental art. Oriental artistic style, modern design and international vision together form the essence of the brand's aesthetics.
PUSU integrates diverse business formats such as furniture products, spatial design, art exhibitions and the aesthetics of tea culture, forging the enduring texture and aesthetic height of oriental life, and pioneering an authentic and timeless new interpretation of oriental aesthetics.
Chen Yanfei, the founder and designer of PUSU, takes Ming-style furniture and Chinese calligraphy as her creative starting point, and explores an oriental lifestyle imbued with the spirit of the times.
