Since its establishment in Kyoto in 1949, KINPAKU-OSHI YAMAMURA has been engaged in the craft of applying gold leaf to traditional Kyoto industries (Kyoto Buddhist altars and Kyoto Buddhist artifacts), and has been involved in the renovation and restoration of renowned temples, shrines, and cultural relics throughout Japan. The workshop is dedicated to Kyoto's unique “heavy pressing” and “scraping lacquer” processing techniques, which have been passed down to the highest level of Japanese craftsmanship. In recent years, the gold leaf craft has been utilized and applied to a variety of new materials and shapes to provide original products such as works by contemporary artists, interior decorations and daily necessities, which have attracted attention both domestically and internationally.
