Kang kun
Kang Kun, born in Seoul, South Korea in 1988, currently lives and works in Seoul. Kang Kun's artistic practice revolves around the relationships between people. His works often present multi-element scenes in the same space to explore the tension between identity and external perception. This focus stems from his personal experience - from childhood, he has been strongly curious about how others influence and shape the self. He ponders the difference between his self-image in the eyes of others and his self-awareness, and explores how social evaluation affects the formation of individual personality. In his creations, the interaction between people and society, as well as how individuals become fluid and uncertain under the gaze of others, constitute the core issue. Through painting, installation, and image, among other media, he concretizes the drift of identity and the interweaving of relationships. The intersecting images and overlapping visual levels in his works create a sense of reality and illusion, making the viewer feel the tug between individual identity and social framework during the viewing process.
