Hugo Design is a design studio founded by Junhyeok Oh, exploring the relationship between industrial precision, digital fabrication, and material-driven craftsmanship. The studio investigates how contemporary tools such as 3D printing, computational modeling, and digital prototyping can coexist with traditional making processes including metal fabrication, woodworking, and hand finishing. The studio’s work often begins with a clear conceptual gesture, such as frozen motion, directional light, or geometric continuity, which is then refined through material testing and fabrication constraints. Projects including the Tori Lamp Series, Radii Chair, and Oblique Lamp demonstrate this approach by combining computational form generation with carefully resolved metal, wood, or plastic components. In these works, structure is articulated rather than concealed, and surface finishes are treated as integral to the overall expression. Hugo Design places strong emphasis on the relationship between form, process, and use. Objects are designed to reveal how they are made, encouraging a quieter and more enduring presence in space rather than immediate visual impact.
