Harumi Nakashima
Born in 1950 in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan, Harumi Nakashima is a distinguished ceramic artist whose practice spans several decades. From 2003 to 2016, she served as Professor in the Art Education and Formative Culture programmes at Aichi University of Education. She currently holds the position of Director of the Tajimi City Ceramic Design Institute and is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC).
Her work has been presented in numerous exhibitions internationally. Selected exhibitions include Utopia of Ceramics – International Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramic Art at the Art Museum of Tsinghua University, Beijing, China (2018); Ceramics Now: The Faenza Prize at 80 at the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy (2018); Harumi Nakashima: 50 Years at Sōi Contemporary Ceramic Art, Kyoto (2020); an exhibition at the Mie Prefectural Ceramic Art Museum Gallery, Japan (2021); a presentation at X Museum, Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Tokyo (2022); and the 11th Enkū Grand Prize Exhibition at the Gifu Prefectural Museum of Art, Japan (2023).
