Dutch artist Floris Wubben founded his eponymous studio in the Netherlands in 2009. His thoughtful integration of industrial civilization, natural materials, and traditional craftsmanship consistently results in refreshing and innovative designs. Floris Wubben’s works are celebrated around the world, with his most iconic ceramic pieces housed in major museums and galleries, including the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the Design Museum Gent in Belgium.
Driven by a deep fascination with industrial civilization, Floris Wubben spent years independently developing a pressing machine. This vase series marks the first time he employed the machine in his creative process—initially shaping the form mechanically, followed by meticulous hand-finishing. The result is an organic silhouette with relaxed, rhythmic lines enhanced by distinctive glazes. These pieces can stand alone or be arranged in groups.
The iguana-textured vase exemplifies the perfect fusion of the studio’s innovative extrusion techniques and refined handcraftsmanship. Combining mechanical precision with labor-intensive manual intervention, it fully reflects the artist’s embrace of industrial culture, Dutch ceramic traditions, and the natural organic form.
