This installation – “15”, was made not only to celebrate the 15th anniversary of COCO PARK, but to use these fifteen papers to create a hidden oasis, and to show the wish for a calming and reclusive lifestyle.
The layered fabrics mimic Chinese landscape paintings. The silhouette of each paper adds on to create a foggy and smoky shadowing effect that attracts people into this parallel world. The designers wish to evoke the feeling of calm, and to heal the chaos and exhaustion this fast-paced world had brought us.
The layered fabrics have purposely divided the space into different sections. While traveling inside, people can explore areas and see different views by bending down, standing on tiptoe and tilting heads. Kids can reach higher levels of “clouds” and “mountains” when they were held by their parents on their shoulders. Groups of people would look at each other in different sections just like how we greeted others on different mountain hills in ancient times. In which to reveal the longing that always existed in our subconsciousness – a calm, reclusive and melodious world, through this presentation.
