Design Shanghai 2023 - Four Stages Represent The Most Well Attended and Comprehensive Seminar Programme in Asia

June 8th - Design Shanghai (8-11 June 2023), Asia’s largest international design event series, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, expecting to welcome over 70,000 visitors over the four days and will showcase more than 600 local and international brands from 40 countries and regions. Design Shanghai celebrates a wealth of creative accomplishments and is set to share new ideas from both the world’s rising stars and industry tastemakers.
In 10 years, Design Shanghai has become one of the biggest design shows in the world and the highly anticipated event will once again attract leading international and Chinese manufacturers, design-led brands, global industry leaders, architects, collectors, interior designers and design enthusiasts, alongside dynamic cultural programming unique to the city. It is comfortably the most significant international design show in Asia. Showcasing curated exhibitors, features and talks, it brings together integrated and innovative design from China to the global stage.
Design Shanghai’s Kohler x Design Shanghai Design Forum programme has carved a reputation as the leading global platform for design thought leadership. Over the decade visitors have attended presentations from world-renowned designers. The Kohler x Design Shanghai Forum theme for this year is ‘Beyond Sustainability lies Re-Creative Design – Design for Wellbeing’. International icons who will be participating in the Design Forum include Ross Lovegrove, Founder & Director FOR LOVE & DESIGN.com, Michael Young, Founder of MY Studio, Aldo Cibic, Designer, Architect, Founder of Cibicworkshop, Zandra Rhodes, “Princess of Punk” and British Fashion Designer, Adam Brinkworth, Founder of BRINKWORTH, and Stefano Piontini, Partner of Vudafieri Saverino Partners (Shanghai) Design Consulting Co. Delving into this year's theme seminar topics will range from 'The Digital Era, Memory and Perception in Design’ to ‘Wellbeing at Work’ and ‘Unleashing the Power of the Metaverse and AI: Implications and Opportunities’. Expect talks from Chinese talents such as Rossana Hu, Co-founder of Neri&Hu, Ben Wu, CEO & Design Director of W DESIGN, Tony Chi, Founder of tonychi studios, Xiang Li, Founder & CEO of X+Living Architectural Design, Wang Ziling, artist, Xie Ke, Founder of Signyan Design and Jamy Yang, Founder and Design Director of YANG HOUSE.
Alongside the main Design Forum Stage Design Shanghai has three additional stages, this includes the Presentation Zone, with curated presentations from exhibitors on new and exceptional products, developments in design trends and insights into market directions - expect talks from Philippe Starck, notable industrial architect and designer, Shuhei Aoyama, Founder & Director Architect of B.L.U.E. Architecture Studio, and Shirley Dong, Founder and Principal of Studio8 Architects.
The Workplace Wellbeing Conference under the theme ‘Thriving Places’ aims to generate a four-day conference that drives the conversation about how to create a future model of inclusive, pleasant, technological, healthy and sustainable space, focusing on the WELL Building Standard’s ten Concepts: Air, Water, Nourishment, Light, Movement, Thermal
Comfort, Sound, Materials, Mind and Community. IWB, a pioneer in the cause of healthy living, is co-operating with Design Shanghai to launch the 'Workplace - Thriving Places' section and the joint exploration of the future of the healthy office in China will feature the leading opinion formers and brands in the health and wellbeing industry, with talks from Ron Bakker, Founding Partner PLP Architecture, Frank Jiang, Chairman and Chief Designer at J&A and Susanna Swee, Managing Principal China, Executive Vice President, Asia at B+H.
The Fotilestyle x Innovation Workshop encourages visitors to boost their creativity and get inspired by leading innovators, designers, creatives, entrepreneurs and dreamers, to rethink our purpose and use the power of innovation to build a better future for our communities, businesses and the planet, with workshops from the likes of Quan Huang, Chien Ya Sun and Chunghan Tang.
Over four days and four stages Design Shanghai will welcome the strongest lineup with nearly 230 speakers from across the globe presenting at the Design Forum. A range of presentations and talks will cover how we can engage with nature in a more authentic manner, considering the materials we use and how our spaces are created, while discussing how artificial intelligence and the Metaverse have set out whole new parameters for us to live by. Celebrating a wealth of creative accomplishments alongside the tenth anniversary of the show, the Design Forum is set to share new ideas from both the world’s rising stars and industry tastemakers.
