YiClay for 3D Printed Products
)
This project combines 3D printing technology with YiClay developed by YI DESIGN to unlock more material potential, meeting diverse design needs through multiple manufacturing processes. As a revolutionary clay composite, YiClay uses over 50% recycled ceramics as its main raw material in the 3D printing process. This material carries historical significance by transforming discarded ceramics into sustainable resources, which can also be reused in daily-use ceramics.
YiClay’s innovative formula not only reduces reliance on virgin materials but also establishes a closed-loop system for ceramic waste—old porcelain shards are ground into fine particles, mixed with binding agents, and 3D printed into new forms. This process not only preserves the tactile qualities of traditional clay but also enables complex geometries unattainable by conventional craftsmanship. By fusing modern digital fabrication with recycled heritage materials, the design proves that sustainable innovation can honor history while shaping the future of material design.
