DONG

The DONG series of vases is a project created around the idea of sustainable cultural preservation, with the fabric used being the Dong cloth of the Dong ethnic group. After conducting on-site research on the Dong ethnic group in southeastern Guizhou, we gained a deeper understanding of the material, craftsmanship, and products associated with the Dong cloth. Therefore, we attempted to make the Dong cloth the focal point of our product design, transitioning it from being worn on the body to being incorporated onto objects. This led to the creation of the first product in the DONG series - the Dong Vase.
