Mahjong, as a gambling game, is also a metaphor of the complicated interpersonal relationships in China’s society. Visually, the rich red, blue, and green colors form the unique visual aesthetics of Mahjong. At the Fnji space in Xintiandi, we play out a Mahjong scenario, with furnishings and lightings being used to fabricate a feeling of staying a theater where participants, spectators, and the waiting people coexist. In the exhibition, the audiences are interleaved, which is also included in the complicated and fun scene mixing eastern and western aesthetics.
