Repurpose and Regenerative Design at S, M, L Scales

A big moment for Design Shanghai – Louise Yeung, distinguished partner at Foster and Partners, judged to be the world’s most sucessful architectural practice – explores and explains the studio’s approach to regenerative thinking and circular strategies at different scales. This is the only session of the conference that presents work in London, the home city of the practice. At ‘Small Scale’ we have the adaptable market-stall system that has revitalised on of London’s most historic markets; at ‘Medium’ we have Ombú in Madrid: A Model for Adaptive Reuse and Future-Ready Workspace; and at Large Scale, she traces more than Three Decades of ongoing regeneration in the Old Spitalfields area of London. Here we see a cycle of evolution that has shaped and re-shaped one of the city’s key communal and commercial hubs.
