Repurpose and Regenerative Design at S, M, L Scales
20/03/2026
A big moment for Design Shanghai – Louise Yeung, distinguished partner at Foster and Partners, judged to be the world’s most sucessful architectural practice – explores and explains the studio’s approach to regenerative thinking and circular strategies at different scales. This is the only session of the conference that presents work in London, the home city of the practice. At ‘Small scale’ we have The Life and ‘After-Life’ of Rainbow After the Storm: A Pride Pavilion, originally created for the London Festival of Architecture; at ‘Medium’ we have Ombú in Madrid: A Model for Adaptive Reuse and Future-Ready Workspace; and at Large Scale, one of Foster’s abiding projects, Old Spitalfields, London: Two Decades of Regeneration. Here we see a cycle of evolution that started more than 20 years ago and that has shaped and re-shaped one of the city’s key communal and commercial hubs.
