If in the Mountains

Pujiang Viewing Platform, a timber event pavilion and viewing structure embedded into the hills east of Pujiang, southwest of Chengdu, was designed and recently completed by MVRDV. It is conceived as an architectural extension of the terrain itself. The pavilion uses green-covered timber arches to reconstruct the silhouette of a hill that was previously flattened, while framing panoramic views toward the growing town below and the Qionglai mountains beyond. In addition, MVRDV has also created a collection of works that were inspired by nature and embracing nature. As nature is not just a label to a design but one of the best solutions to the making of inhabitable living spaces in our cities.
