From Things to Relations
In a time of fundamental change, it is more important than ever to design spaces that not only evolve with us and adapt to ever-changing circumstances, but also provide a framework rooted in values, commitment, and community. We should therefore create spaces of opportunity — spaces that adapt to life, not the other way around. After all, life takes place between the things we design. From Things to Relations advocates for a reconsideration of the traditional role of the designer: do we only design things, or also processes and relationships? Don’t projects begin long before the first line is drawn — and are they ever truly complete, as they continue to evolve from the first day of use? Does use follow space, or does space follow the user? Is the relationship between strong identity and agility a contradiction — or an opportunity?
