 "New life · Living" is our interpretation of this design festival. Under the epidemic, people's lives have been greatly impacted, and some people have lost an extremely important part of their lives. We want to express through this device: Break through the haze and enter the "new life" view.“One Tree" obtains different waveform data by optically sampling the annual ring profile of a dead tree, and connects the sampled waveform to the musical instrument to show her "new life" in the form of music. We want to use “One tree" to appease those who have been harmed under the haze of the epidemic, and tell everyone that all that is lost will exist in different dimensions and in different ways.

 

Green Pavilion

Design: ennead architects LLP

Location: Xintiandi Style

The coronavirus has brought about major changes to the way people view public space, communication and interactions as we look to a post-epidemic era. Through our design, Ennead hopes to create a green public space that encourages closer interaction between people and the natural environment. Through the introduction of renewable farming concepts, we hope to create a unique urban green space, bringing about more interpersonal interactions though an exhibit that is both highly interactive and artistic– making our food accessible by cooperating with traditional Shanghainese vegetarian catering technologies. We wish to create a creative and inspiring public space that encourages the interaction between human beings and natural environment, while tapping into the food growing potential of cities. From the perspective of green sustainability, we hope to make a meaningful effort to protect the urban environment and the earth’s water system.

Apartment Store：Limitless Island

In the post-epidemic era, facing geographical constraints, people have become accustomed to living in isolation at home. Say goodbye to the past lifestyle of seeking surprises outwards, reduce ineffective social interactions and explore inwardly, spend more time reviewing physical and mental states. Rethink the future in the process of practicing a sustainable and recyclable healthy life.

《ELLE DECORATION》presents the Apartment Store theme is‘Limitless Island’this time. The four spaces in the center of the square are closely dependent but independent. The formation of a seemingly isolated "island without boundaries" can break through the barriers of time and space between people through digital networks. The fitness equipment in the living room, the hand-made light food in the kitchen, the meditation book on the bookshelf, the air purifier in the bedroom...Walking in these four spaces, let each of us rethink and respond that in the future of the epidemic era, how can people create a more organic and healthy lifestyle and practice sustainable life in their daily lives?

Our universe already lasted 4.6billion years. Perhaps it will live for next 5billion years. Is it eternal time? Depends how you define time.  But the universe we are familiar with is just one of many universes. There are still others before, after, beyond and in our universe. One Atom has its own universe, and your idea creates its own too. Some universe existed just for 1 nanosecond, some live for a lifetime.  Enjoy the process of creation. Enjoy the ideas fluctuating, enjoy the dazzling, the iridescent, the changing. Enjoy the beauty of creation, growing up and disappearing. Among uncountable other universes.

Looooop

Design: 2-LA Design

Location: Xintiandi Shikumen Block (Opposite to Taotaoju)

“Looooop” is a scale-up fiber concept. Fiber is one of basic elements to making everyday objects, 3D printed infinite loop visualizes recycled and sustainable idea also represents connection between classic theory and advanced technology. A classic trefoil knot structure with parametrical pattern connects 5 essentials of life: “dress, diet, residence travel and communication”. We hope this visual combination can communicate with audience that all human’s lives are connected, sustainability matters our planet not only individuals. We create “looooop” by advanced parametric design and printing technology to visualizing basic life components, through scale-up fiber to amplifying the impression of sustainability, and build connection between life and sustainable mindset. Encourage audience to appreciating, discussing and hopefully applying sustainable as habit in their everyday life.

Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove

Design: More Less & Xu Yun

Location: Overbridge of Xintiandi Style

The work consists of a screen and a calligraphic projection. The main material of the screen is DECO DECO Plexiglas, whose delicate and rich texture is conducive to simulating the concave and convex shape of bamboo, and the bottom of the screen is equipped with a breathing light strip to create a modern aesthetic.Seven groups of screens run across the entire mall promenade as if we were in a bamboo forest; the calligraphy work that fits the screen is by the artist Xu Yun.Mr. Xu presents the interests of the Seven Sages in contemporary calligraphy, so that the works can express the independent thoughts and values even in the information developed society.

Daduidui

Design: Liu Geshu's Team & the Brand and Public Relations Management Center of Chengdu JZFZ Architecture Design Co., Ltd. (JZFZ)

Location: Ximen Plaza, Xintiandi Style, Madang Road

The work draws inspiration from Shanghai and its lifestyle. The metropolis’ landmark elements are displayed through a combined installment of large-scale paintings and containers. Combining local traditional elements, subculture and fashion, the large background painting of C8H11NO2 ☺ and the four 2-meter-high gigantic containers change the way people feel, see and experience and put a new high fashion spin on the work. In this way, we aim to encourage appreciation, touching and thinking, and decode a new "dopamine experience."

Three

Design: Lacime Architects

Location: Xintiandi Style, Zizhong Road

“Three” is a very simple number. According to Tao Te Ching, “after one come two, after two come three, after three come all things”. In ancient Chinese philosophy, “three” is endowed with the connotation of “ultimate”, “extreme” and “all-embracing”. Coincidentally, “three” also bears the meaning of “holy” and “perfect” in Western culture. The installation attempts to respond to the three tenses of “past”, “present” and “future”. It takes “center”, “pathway” and “domain” as its spatial structure, acquires life experience from the aspects of “vision”, “hearing” and “touch”, and constructs three human behavior modes of “attraction”, “gathering” and “separation”. The surrounding elements gather here to create a more meaningful environment, thus forming a kind of existence space. It is here that the world begins to unfold and the story begins to take place. The installation aims to listen to the voice of daily life in the current fast-paced city, so as to embrace future with a new attitude.

Echo composed of five pieces interactive unique sound sculptures. each Object On behalf of the old Shanghai. illuminant symbolizes the future reacting by the sounds.   The music is a mix of mechanical and synthesized sounds.

 

CROSSOVER

Design: Bespoke/ C&E

Location: Outdoor of Hubin Road & Jinan Road

The installation itself is situated in the heart of the city, a space that isolated from the noise daily life. Visitors can be seen and seen in it. Visitors are encouraged to bring awareness back to themselves. Inspire the visitor's personal sensory experience. The cascading effect of the installation lights reflects the various dimensions of the virtual and reality world. The visit experience provides an instant sensory switch that reflect the way of life from the current post-epidemic era: a constant switch between the real and the virtual.

Colorful Screen

Design: UKER Architectural Design

Location: Xintiandi Plaza Subway Plaza

The installation wall is 20 cm thick and 2.1 m high, symbolizing the special year of 2021. There are 12 mirrors and 12 LED screens on the wall, combined with 6 sensors in different positions. Through the cooperation between strangers, the audience can achieve the device experience of different interaction results through cooperation on the premise of maintaining a safe distance.

The Door of Memory

Location: Entrance of Xintiandi Shikumen Block

Framed important moments or people or events with picture frames is a way for people to process memories. The memories are different every time, and the fragments of the past carried in the frame are constantly reinterpreted by the present. A door of memory enlarges the commonly visible picture frame to a scale where people can freely shuttle, and opens the space enclosed by the picture frame, inviting the audience to enter the "memory of the past". Inside and outside the memory gate, the audience can watch, stay, touch and use the current mood and intuition to leave a trace, generate new imagination and magnetic field, and continue to face the future.

 

A Moment Like This

Whether those moments of holding hands and hugging bring momentary heart-throb? And whether you are immersed in those moments that take your breath away for a long time? life is lonely and boring, but the emotional bondage with others makes us happy, as the saying goes, “Je n'ai jamais pour qui reste, et le coeur qui bat toujours.”

The device, A Moment Like This, is intended to simulate the rhythm of human heartbeat and breathing with the flickering of lights. When it is in calm, the breathe is also smooth and profound. When visitors approach, interactive devices will capture the moments of emotions such as holding hands and hugs in the crowd, and then it will present the inner activities that surge up rapidly between friends and lovers as lighting effects, colors and rhythms changing with the intimacy between people. People often say that love needs to be expressed. It is hoped that through this interactive installation, the introverted and reserved emotions of human can be presented with colorful effects in artistic installations, so that people can take pictures and record this passionate moment of life. It will become a new landmark of the New World at night for photography.

Cosmic Porcelain Field

Design: Kzeng Jiang & Ran Zhuang

The installation is an organic combination of two parts: an interactive video installation and a static installation. The interactive video installation is a visual imagery interactive installation using blue and white porcelain element as the background...  The Chinese traditional cultural spirit deduced and conveyed in the interactive video installation, echoes with another traditional Chinese architectural technique called Sun Mao(mortise and tenon techniques) and penetrates beyond the screen, which becomes the original concept of the static installation. Through the evolution of form and the creation of modeling, combined with the concept of dragon bones and scales, the traditional architectural language has constructed a Chinese cultural symbol - dragon. At the same time, this freely flying dragon presents the climbing spirit from the dragon soaring.

 

Chinoiserie Bench

Chinese writing began in the Yangshao Culture Period of Zhongyou on the Yellow River, and calligraphy art also started from oracle bone inscriptions, which has been inherited and developed for more than 200 years.Calligraphy is a silent poem, an invisible dance, a picture without a picture, and a silent music.

The three-dimensional space of calligraphy writing is formed by "swinging", "translational", "lifting and pressing" and "twisting" in the same city of calligraphy writing. The result of calligraphy is two-dimensional, but the movement process of calligraphy is three-dimensional.

Based on the formation logic of calligraphy, countless shapes and styles can be created. The design focuses on the word "Shanghai", which is integrated into this artwork through the logic of writing.

 

TIME INFINITE

Design: EVA ARCHITECTS

Location: Xintiandi Style

In daily life, time is artificially divided into certain quantities, but the essence of time is an infinite and unique whole. The installation loads time from 2001 to 2021 into 21 boards, and organizes them in a purely fragmented geometric form. Visitors will feel two important concepts of time, 'future' and 'past', from the front to the back. Time and space is a pair of mutual concept. The white frame structure in the installation encloses a pure space, creating the same sequence of time it stimulates visitors to think about whether flowing time passes through the static space or space spontaneous change in static time. Our daily life, in the eternal, abstract, and ambiguous time span, transit from point to line, and then from line to surface, thus forming our whole lifetime.

Digital Circular Pavilion

Design: Jiangzhu 3D

Location: Xintiandi Style (In front of Lululemon)

In what way can we connect unrelated people in the middle of the city. Create an environment. A usable public installation where people can stop, walk, look, visit, rest, lean, play, and talk. There is a division between the inside and outside of the ring that is permeable and separate but not completely isolated. What kind of people will sit in the outer ring to enjoy a separate rest, and what kind of people will sit in the inner ring hoping to get some conversation with people in the same circle. Creating a conversation. Regarding the aesthetic expression of the installation itself, there are the random lines drawn when creating it, and the use of topology. Topology is a kind of randomness and coincidence in number crunching, where the shape that happens to be designed has a few people sitting in it who happen to be discussing the topic. Creating a future. The architectural installation created by the new technology may be just a starting point, and when it is one day too common to be art and not rare, it means that it is as well widespread.

Twenty Your Life On

Design: Shanghai SHANYU Culture Communication

Location: Xintiandi Style, Entrance of Zizhong Road

It is a paper sculpture that expresses young people's confidence in their new life after the epidemic. The sculpture adds elements of Beijing Opera and fashion to make a combination of traditional Chinese culture and modern popular culture. This work is two sculptures, the characters are Mu Guiying and Yang Zongbao. The impression of these two characters in the public mind is the positive image of SA, personality, publicity and so on, which is in line with the spirit of the work. And the action of the sculpture is the stretching posture of Beijing opera, which also expresses the young people's self-confidence and the courage to express themselves. The author hopes that through this work, the audience can get resonance, also trigger thinking, re-examine themselves, free and easy life.

The Oriental Pearl is Shanghai, the Jade Snow is the Magnolia. The appearance of each flower, with the fingertip temperature transferred by hand, reshapes nature. Magnolia is the messenger of spring, the pioneer, and the spiritual symbol of striving forward, just like Le Bouquet's mission of fashion: Beautify your space, enlighten your life.

Digital Shining Pavilion

Design: Puzzle Lab

Location: Hubin Road & Jinan Road

Taking the shell structure with great sense of shelter as the mother shape, the hexagonal honeycomb structure is mapped on it, and the convex cone unit is formed by extrusion outward.  The cavity is decorated with mirrored stainless steel and dazzling acrylic. The installation is like an immersive kaleidoscope, with light and shadows changing inside the pavilion. Color and light are used to dissolve meaning in order to bring a moment of escape and joy.
