The accolades reaffirm Design Shanghai as the preeminent design event in Asia. Commenting on the success, Mike Dynan, Media 10 China Managing Director, said: “Exactly four years ago, Design Shanghai won the best overseas launch of a trade show. However, even with the early success, no-one could have predicted the astronomical rise of this event. In a very difficult market, with increasing competition from some of the biggest players in the world, Design Shanghai has continued to grow and improve. The award recognises the hard work and devotion of all of the team, both in Shanghai and in London; and their commitment and dedication has seen Design Shanghai become one of the most influential shows in the world in a very short time.”

The Association of Event Organisers also granted Design Shanghai with the Best Use of Technology award, which just adds to the value and excellent credentials attributed to the annual event: “The award for Best Use of Technology demonstrates how we are willing to innovate and to break new ground. This show’s innovations are original not just for China, but for the world, introducing fully automated ticketing systems using photo ID and QR codes, 3D mapping onto a tree and an invitation for the event sent to clients in the form of a hologram which appeared above guests’ mobile phone screens”, says Dynan

In addition to the events’ nominations, Media 10 was a finalist for the award of Most Respected Company of the Year plus a further 10 nominations across its shows including UK Construction Week, 100% Optical, The Cake & Bake Show, Clerkenwell Design Week and Grand Designs Live.

Lee Newton, Media 10 CEO, concludes: “Receiving the awards is testament to all the hard work that the Media 10 teams have done to firmly establish themselves in China. As a company, we are all about breaking new ground and thinking outside the box to come up with the best result. It is great to know that we can take our philosophy and systems to the other side of the world and achieve amazing results.”
